Amsteldorp is a neighborhood in the Watergraafsmeer in Amsterdam-East, near the Amstel station. The neighborhood is located along the east side of the Weespertrekvaart and is further bounded by the Hugo de Vrieslaan, the Gooiseweg, and the Sportpark Drieburg.
It consists of two neighborhoods: the De Wetbuurt in the south and Tuindorp Amstelstation in the north. The De Wetbuurt is named after De Wetstraat, which was renamed Fahrenheitstraat in 1922. The neighborhood dates back to the 1920s, but it also has many houses from the 1950s. Tuindorp Amstelstation was built in 1947-'48 and was mainly intended for the elderly who lived in oversized homes elsewhere in the city; this freed up those homes for families with children.
